Time Warp

"So," I asked her on a recent visit.

"Now that your mission is over and you are back home, what do you do with your time?"

She smiled.

"I'm working feverishly on my family history," she said.

And then she added, "My own living family is so messed up, that I'm trying to straighten out the dead."

She laughed.

"It's lots easier."

The Great Escape

"It was about twenty years ago.

My husband and I were not getting along at all.

Our three teen-age boys were in trouble in: school, seminary, personal lives, etc.

I had just started the job from Hell; going to work each day was miserable.

So, I used to fantazise about getting in my little car and just driving away to live in Southern California. I would live by the beach, not tell anyone where I was, and maybe, just maybe, I would go to church.

Now, all these years later, my boys - or men - partly because of the economy, and partly because of unwise choices, are in trouble again with:

finances/house reposessions/
job/job losses
divorce/marital problems
children/health

And, the vision of running away has returned.

And, that is why I turned in my mission papers a couple of weeks ago."

A Mother's Prayer

PEACE
a beautiful word - a beautiful feeling

My prayers are especially pleading for two members of our family who leave this week to establish peace in the world in two totally different ways.

Dr. Robert Jeremy Hackworth heads to Afghanistan Sunday, September 6, to help those brave men and women wounded while fighting for peace in a war-torn country.

Elder Sean David Fisher enters the MTC on Wednesday, Sept 9, headed to Tampa, Florida (Spanish speaking), to find those people searching for the peace and joy the Gospel brings.

I pray for peace for all their family members while Jeremy & Sean are gone,

knowing they are making the world a better place.

How To Have a Great Sabbath

Take one grandson who is leaving to serve an LDS mission:




Add several family members from the Fisher family and Hackworth family: (wish the rest could have shared this day with us! There were lots more people than just shown here.)





Stir in heaps and heaps of food:




Sprinkle with a generous amount of warmth and fellowship that always exist at the Fisher home in Hurricane.




And you have yourself a mighty fine Sabbath.
