On Leaving the Church

Okay, so I probably won't.

But, I've been serving in the church for 50 years.

A good portion of that time has been spent in Primary.

Yesterday, after Primary class, I thought about leaving the church.

Yes, it was THAT bad.

I always seem to get a real smart alec who needs, nay - DEMANDS - a lot of attention.

It's frustrating.

I have high expectations of teaching the Gospel principles.  Of them actually LEARNING.

And, I get easily discouraged.

Okay, take a deep breath.

Move forward.  Lower your expectations.  Breathe.

And, get back to church.

I HATE Divorce

I've said it before; will say it to my dying day.

But, I

HATE DIVORCE.

No one wins.

Everyone loses.

Especially the children.

Well, everyone does...

Divorce stinks.

PRIMARILY Speaking

Question - asked by an older lady unfamiliar with technology: Now, boys and girls, if I asked you to walk to a friend's house to deliver something for me, but you didn't know how to get to the address, what could you do to help you get there?

Answer: by a young girl very familiar with Technoolgy: Just ask SIRI?

Teacher:  What did you say?  (Obviously puzzled.)

Answer:  Ask SIRI.

Teacher: again puzzled......well, okay, whatever.

Ha Ha - made me smile.

It's a Conundrum!

Eat meat and fat - all you want.  NO carbs including whole wheat and high sugar fruits. Veggies are not necessary at all.  (author #2)

Eat only whole foods; mostly vegetables, no meat, whole wheat products.  (author #1)

NO SUGAR (authors 1 & 2)

What's a person to do?

Eat whatever I dang well please at this point in my life.

I just decided that yesterday, so, yes, I went ahead and had a piece of meatloaf at Allen's favorite place to eat: GC.

Okay, that's settled then.

(Too bad I'm still struggling with my weight!  Constant battle!  I thought by this time in my life, it wouldn't really matter what I ate, but alas and alack; tis just not true.)

I Love to See the Temple!

I try to go every other week;

mostly I do initiatory.

But, if I take Vonnie, we do a session.

Today, the temple was PACKED.

Parking lot, ordinance room, I do mean packed.

But, it's so wonderful because there are so many

OLD PEOPLE - like Vonnie and me.

These oldsters have a purpose.

A divine purpose.

They shuffle along coming and going.

But, they are doing what is good and noble.

So, it's true...I love to see the TEMPLE.

But, I'm also thrilled to see the people who go or who serve there.....

It's inspiring.

Primarily Speaking

They are 7 turning 8.

They are smart, funny, cute, and good.

And, they are my Primary class.

Let's hear it for the CTRA Class of the Red Butte ward.

Having a Home...

is something that I often take for granted.

I love our home.

Fall 2013

But, I don't think much about it on a day-to-day basis.

I just live in it.

But, helping at the homeless shelter day reminded me what an incredible blessing it is to...

LIVE IN A HOME!

My heart is filled with gratitude today because we have this lovely home which is paid for and which we enjoy every single day.

A place to live...

What a great blessing!

Of Resolutions

Two years ago, my resolution was to keep the gas tank from getting below half.

I pretty much accomplished that goal and have stuck to it.

Last year was a bomb; I resolved to try a new recipe a week....

oh, I started out great, but it soon fizzled....BIG TIME!

Over the years, my goal as been to read the scriptures daily and I've kept that although in 2013, early in the year, I missed a day; ruined the whole year!

Last year, as far as I know, I read every day without missing a day.  It may have just been a single verse, but I read every day.

So, that brings us to this year....

And, my goals are:

DRUM ROLL, PLEASE....

NO FRENCH FRIES.

It's a funny goal because I don't eat that many French fries anyway, but it's still a healthy goal.

Another goal is to work a little harder on exercising.

And, finally, I need to lose 9 more pounds....

It's a bugger that one.

We'll see.

Of course, I will continue on daily scripture reading goal and the goal to keep the gas above half filled.

All good goals, but if I don't accomplish them, it's okay.

Life will still be good.

And, I'll still be an okay person.

Last Selfie of 2014

Heading out the door to celebrate the NEW YEAR with Garn & Dorothy...
love the picture of the newlyweds in the background...perfect!

Ringing in the Year

We don't usually stay up to welcome the New Year.

But, Last Night, we were up at Midnight.

Gave a kiss, looked at the neighbor's fireworks briefly, then turned out the lights to say

GOOD-BYE to 2014; Hello 2015.

However, earlier in the evening, we spent a memorable, delightful time with

Garn & Dorothy.

They are such dear, dear friends.  Sometimes we go weeks without seeing them.

And, then we get together and just have a grand old time.

They had cooked prime rib.

YUM! and more YUM for the rest of the meal.

What a great way to end a year.....

Thank you, dear friends, for your great friendship over the many years.

OH, that Dorothy, always good for some fun!  She's a good cook..

Garn & Allen really enjoy each other's company.

Dorothy got this Prime Rib from Albertson's at a very good deal.  I had some.
And, I'm not eating beef, but how could I refuse?

The Quitter Finishes

I quit things so easily; if it gets tough, I quit! But today, I finished a goal I told Allen about.  I told him I was going to go 45 minute...
