BAH! HUMBUG!

Hard to believe:

I'd never read Dicken's immortal classic, A Christmas Carol.

Maybe I thought I knew the story, so I didn't need to actually read it:

WRONG! SO WRONG!
It was free, so I downloaded it to my Kindle and then I realized and remembered:

Dickens is just incredible...the way he puts words together is so thrilling to me.

He is sheer genius, and the message of this book is so very, very powerful.

But the way he says it, the setting, the characters. Oh, I have missed a treasure trove indeed all these years.

I won't make that mistake again.

A Christmas Carol will be at the top of my reading list for next holiday season.

We read this Dickens short story with our kids every Christmas...reading a few Chapters every Sunday evening starting after Thanksgiving. And then we watch the George C. Scott movie version on Christmas Eve. I love Dickens. I'm also jealous of your kindle. Wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas Loni!

I totally agree. Dickens is a marvel with words and visual perceptions. I love it when a Dickens question comes up on Jeopardy, I get them every time. Those classics just can't be beat!
